Josh Maxwell

Water Resources Coordinator

Josh has been with the District since 2014. His responsibilities include measuring and reporting on water quality and quantity across the District including in lakes, streams, BMPs, stormwater ponds, and wetlands, as well as monitoring and managing aquatic invasive species and coordinating fisheries monitoring. He has bachelor degrees in Biology and Water Resources/Fisheries from the University of Wisconsin - Steven's Point, and previously worked as an Aquatic Ecologist for the Illinois Natural History Survey.

Josh's favorite part of his job is that he does something different every day as we manage, protect, and restore our water resources. He enjoys the challenges in managing water resources as it is constantly changing and can shift as we manipulate certain aspects. Working with a great team that is dedicated to the District is also a plus! In his free time, he enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

Josh's favorite spot in the District:

Staring Lake because it is a unique lake that we can see the changes as common carp removal has occurred. The fishery is slowly shifting to become great with some big fish present!
