Native Plant Design Workshop Part 1: Intro to Native Garden Design 

Learn how to design a native plant garden

This 2-part series begins April 8 with an introduction to native garden design. Then continues on April 22, with small group design coaching sessions with a landscape design expert. Attendees will be provided a project design packet to be completed and used during part 2.  

Part 1: Intro to native garden design

In this workshop, learn how to design a native plant garden and why design is key to success and longevity. 

  • Examples of different styles of native gardens. 
  • Considerations for how to best use your space.
  • Benefits and challenges of plugs verses seeds.
  • Explore plant selection for height, spacing, soil, layering, and bloom time. 
  • Dealing with problem areas or potential challenges. 
  • What to expect as your garden gets growing.

Hosted by Carver County Water Management Organization, Carver Soil & Water Conservation District, and Riley Purgatory Bluff Creek Watershed District. No cost to attend.
