Join RPBCWD for a Volunteer Buckthorn Bust!

Riley Purgatory Bluff Creek Watershed District (RPBCWD) recently purchased a 28-acre property with plans to restore the site to native prairie and other habitats. This buckthorn removal event will target a small area of woodland overgrown with invasive buckthorn.

You will be asked to sign a liability waiver when you arrive. Those under age 18 will need a parent or guardian to sign the liability waiver.

Be Prepared

  • Wear sturdy, close-toed shoes for walking on uneven terrain
  • Long pants and sleeves are strongly recommended
  • No restroom facilities are located on the site.
  • You will be asked to sign a liability waiver when you arrive.

What's provided

  • Tools such as gloves, loppers, handsaws, weed wrenches, and herbicide daubers (some tools will have age restrictions)
  • Gloves and safety glasses
  • Drinks and snacks
