Manager Application
Five managers govern the RPBCWD, which manages, protects, and restores water resources. Four managers are appointed by the Hennepin County Commissioners and one by the Carver County Commissioners. Managers serve three-year terms. To be eligible to apply for a manager position, you must live in the Riley Purgatory Bluff Creek Watershed District and the county in which there is a board opening.
Neither Hennepin County or Carver County is seeking applicants for RPBCWD board seats at this time.
Hennepin County-appointed Seats (3)
To be eligible for a Hennepin County seat, an applicant must live within Hennepin County and RPBCWD.
How to Apply
Applications will be accepted in May of the year with an opening. To learn more and apply, visit the Hennepin County Advisory and Watershed District Boards webpage. Click on "Watershed district board openings" to view the position description. Click on "How to apply" to submit an application.
Important dates
Deadline to apply: May 31st of open year. The next expected open application period is 2026.
Process: Qualified applicants will be asked by the county to provide a qualification statement in early June. The recorded interview statement will be played during the Hennepin County Administration, Operations, and Budget Committee meeting in June.
Position term: Three years beginning August 1st
Carver County-appointed Seat (1)
To be eligible for a Carver County seat, an applicant must live within Carver County and RPBCWD.

You may also download a PDF version of the application or call the county directly at 952-361-1503 to receive a printed copy. The City of Chanhassen will also post information on how to apply.
Important dates
Deadline to apply: Typically in early May of open year. The next expected open application period is 2027.
Process: Qualified applicants will be asked by the county to interview with the City of Chanhassen City Council in May. A second interview may be required by the Carver County Board of Commissioners, which may the appointment.
