Sam Stansberry
Sam started with RPBCWD as a seasonal Water Resources Technician the summer of 2026 before joining the team full-time in October. She supports a variety of field and office projects, including water quality sampling on lakes and streams, vegetation surveys, and carp management efforts. She also assists with data management by consolidating, organizing, and entering field data. In addition, She help support the regulatory program through permit processing and related administrative tasks. Sam earned a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science from Metropolitan State University, and interned with an environmental consulting firm prior to joining the district, where she supported water resources projects for another watershed district.
Sam's favorite part of her job is being able to spend so much time outdoors. She loves that every day gives her the opportunity to learn something new about the environment while experiencing the natural areas and wildlife around her. She also enjoy the hands-on nature of the work, whether it's collecting data in the field, troubleshooting unexpected challenges, or maintaining equipment. She finds it rewarding to see the direct impact of the work we do. In her free time, Sam enjoys hiking and camping with her dog. She also enjoys trying new restaurants and coffee shops, reading, and spending time with family and friends, usually while watching a sporting event or listening to live music.
